Site Description

Set around several lovely lakes in award-winning landscaped gardens that hold a David Bellamy Gold Award for Conservation. Haggerston Castle boasts a spectacular setting and everything you need for a fun-filled family holiday.
Glorious scenery, magnificent beaches and magical castles and houses – Alnwick Castle (of Harry Potter fame), Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland National Park, Gateshead's renowned Metro Centre and Edinburgh are all close by.

Local Attractions

Relax and unwind in one of the most peaceful areas of the country when you stay at one of our holiday parks in Northumberland. Walkers and beachcombers revel in the dramatic clifftop paths and long, sweeping sands of the coast, and the Northumberland National Park and Cheviot Hills are a nature lovers’ paradise, while water sports enthusiasts of all kinds flock to the vast expanses of Kielder Water.

It’s certainly tranquil now, but the impressive castles and peel towers you’ll find within easy reach of our holiday parks in Northumberland speak of the county’s turbulent history. Alnwick Castle, famously doubling as Hogwarts School in the Harry Potter films, is particularly well preserved and also boasts some spectacular water gardens. Make time to explore Berwick’s magnificent town walls, built in the first Elizabethan era, and if you cross the causeway to visit Holy Island’s heritage centre you can, thanks to computer wizardry, ‘turn the pages’ of the beautifully illuminated Lindisfarne Gospels. Constructed by the Romans and now almost 2000 years old, Hadrian’s Wall is still standing – surely a must see when enjoying caravan holidays in Northumberland.

And when you’ve relaxed enough, head to Newcastle and Gateshead’s Metro Centre for buzzing nightlife and great shopping.

Morpeth

Longhirst HAllLonghirst Hall
Morpeth
Micklewood village is situated in the grounds of Longhirst Hall and is the ideal location for exploring the ancient kingdom of Northumbria. Longhirst caters for the needs of the explorer, the sports enthusiast and those opting for the quiet break. Only 40 miles from the Scottish border the area is full of history. The imposing castles of Bamburgh and Alnwick bare witness to the warring past. Further inland you will find ancient ruins, country houses and the scenic beauty of the National Park. A visit to the Farne Islands (Holy Island) with its medieval connections and fairy tale castle are a must. Fishing villages such as Beadnell, Seahouses and Alnmouth dot the coastline with many choices of hostelry, try a local delicacy from the several smokeries. The two on site golf courses are supported by a dozen or so along the coast behind the miles of golden sands, being some of the quietest beaches in Britain. There is much wildlife to see, and the boat trip to the Farne Islands to visit the basking seals is well worth the trip. Alternatively, historic Morpeth is only 3 miles away, with a choice of shops, pubs and restaurants, or the ancient town of Alnwick, taking a day or so to visit the famous gardens. Within the grounds of the hall there is the choice of two bars and a restaurant.
